Click here to see the letter sent our by XchangeIT about the POS Solutions DOS software. This dispels any doubt about the future of POS Solutions DOS software. The financial penalty for DOS users makes a move to compliant software compelling for newsagents. This move has been on the table for at least several years – all the software companies, including POS, knew about it. Click here for details of the offer to switch to Tower Systems Windows software.
The information in this announcement is not new. It was announced at the QNF State Conference earlier this year and even foreshadowed at the ANF conference last year. The announcement brings timing closure to the old DOS software.
Disclosure: I own Tower Systems.
POS are saying they don’t know anything about this. Is the letter real or not? Do I have to switch from the dos software?

David, The financial penalty for the non-compliance POS Solutions DOS software was first forecast two years ago. This was repeated several times last year – publicly and privately to the owners of POS. The announcement this week restates information already in the public domain.
You do not have to switch from the DOS software unless you want to access the lower XchangeIT pricing and be able to do EDI returns.

If you have to pay $6,000+ for new software, you could stay with your old system and pay the extra 100 bucks a year more for XchangeIT and still be in front for the next 50 years.

John, the extra is $400 a year in dollars and considerably more in operational penalties. The flip side is better software, better data, better decisions and a business which is more saleable.

pos said the other day that the browser software is free

David, unless they have got more desperate, I suspect it is not free. I saw a quote earlier this week which showed it is not free.

POS say on their blog I get their Browser software for free now. Like you say, this sound desperate.

Lin, research the total cost carefully and compare with other systems. Get guarantees on the cost over at least three years.
