The Fin does this all the time!
Poor form, though for a prominent daily.
The only Fairfax headline we get is the Fin, despite having asked our rep for others.

That’s annoying, it promotes male and female bimbos into asking:
“Is this today’s paper”?
I say “No it’s tomorrow’s” Ugh!

I would like to ask the question, do you think these posters actually drive sales?
We have not used them for over 4 years inside or outside the shop.

Good question
Depending on the headline determines whether I put mine out.
Wet Weather etc I try also to drive people into my Bookstall and hopefully its a good headline.
for eg: 1000 new jobs created. If it relates to my customers, or our area gets a mention, someone famous makes the headlines.
It does work for me.

Havent received posters for any newspapers for months, newsagent doesnt put them in, have asked, to no avail. Have a stand alone paper stand with two a3 clear perspex poster sites available currently occupied by a powerball jackpot and a burkes backyard magazine poster..grrr

We notice that people read them before coming into the shop. Surprised us a bit.
We are selective, however of what actually is displayed. Usually the Bulletin has a few to choose from, if they’re not all to cringeworthy!
If there’s only one for a publication which is a bit on the nose, we will keep it off the stand.

When I was a Subbie, we had a row of 8 poster frames out the front of the shop, They were moved about regularly throughout the day and I would never use a generic poster. Posters worked well in our location on a reasonably busy corner.

Our Age poster said “Children’s Hospital Failing Rural Kids”. It looks like you got dudded on your poster today.
We have had the generic poster before though.

I’ve replaced the black and white average day poster with the glossy girl mags and have noticed an increase in sales with them, but not hurting newspaper sales.
I’m like Derek though, if there’s something important – like Sam the Koala, I’ll put that up, but not “On sale today” – I can make better use of that space.
