Silicon Chip magazine this month comes with an advertising catalogue which is four times the thickness of the magazine itself. This creates a retail space challenge for newsagents without any financial benefit.
At the very least the publisher should pay newsagents for the addditional space required to handle this fat magazine package.
I agree on the Newsagent perspective you’ve put forth.
But Mark, as a consumer that used to buy Silicon Chip from you Frankston store. It was mainly for the advertisments in the mag that was the reasoning to purchase it.
Back a few years ago when I was building a hydro-accelerator for my time machine (Just kidding a computer for an engine) the extra advertisements would have sealed the deal in buying it.
Let us know how it goes, you never know, some people might look into building stuff themselves in this economic climate rather than buying something built. You might see a rise in sales for the mag???
Kudos to Silicon Chip – The magazine has certainly helped me build my flux capacitor for the Delorean. I just have to build up enough speed to hit 88 miles per hour. Wish me luck!

Great to see you support your local Newsagent.
On the topic of flux, I’m building an influxanator for my door. It’s to stop the influx of “Classically Country English French Doors Reissue” Qty 50 and others like it, from getting in.
They’ll be zapped into a particle then sent through my network to the back room into the mini hadron collider I have, for the black hole planned to put topped magazines in – to save time going to the recycle bin.
The influxanator will send a signal to my software to automatically do a supplementary return – saving labor.
Do Newsagents in the future have this type of tech?
Does it annoy you they’ve bagged Silicon Chip this month so readers like us can’t browse?

This is the best selling issue of the year for us with the Jaycar catalogue.. I understand the debate re fixturing..It is a valid one.. However, I’m happy to provide the space for a title that does this a few time a year if it means a strong uplift in sales
