The Government owned Australia Post outlet opposite my Forest Hill store has undergone considerable change over the last two weeks – more than just the card changed I blogged about recently. The new look is more open and welcoming – except when the custtomer line snakes through the store. Looking in Friday morning, it certainly looks more welcoming than before – much less like a post office. I will be interested to see other changes they bring to this government-owned retail model.
We visited an Australia post shop on the weekend to buy stamps and while waiting behind someone asking about phone recharge rates, and another asking about the cost of ink and why it was so high I had a chance to look around. Once I finally got to the counter to be served I asked for a box of 200 stamps and was told they do not have any so I asked for 2 boxes of 100, again sold out.
A post office that has phone recharge, ink, stationery but no bulk stamps, doesn’t sound like a post office to me but they could offer me 10% off phone recharge. I thought we only made 6% of mobile recharge?
