Notice to newsagents: Bill Express and BOPO are dead!

bopoad_screen.jpgCheck out this photo from a newsagency in New South Wales.  The Bill Express screen is still up and turned on and running an ad for the dead BOPO prepaid Visa card.  No wonder we are considered a has-been retail channel by some suppliers.

If you have a Bill Express screen take it down or play other content.  Do not advertise BOPO because that makes you and all who share your shingle look bad.

We really are our own worst enemy sometimes.

Why dont people just use the abandoned screens and show adverts for things they actually have in the store?

If the future of these screens were in such a mess I’d say just donate them all to the bus fire appeal.

i had my IT guy come in and reconfigure it so now i can load images on my back office computer and they appear on the screen via wireless connection, somewhat like a powerpoint presentation. Have downloaded mag covers etc from supplier emails, was suprised how well it turned out, wish more suppliers would start to sent electonic versions of their pos to use in this way.

You wouldn’t believe how many newsagents here in Perth are still showing the same old Bill Express advertising. I’ve spotted 3 in the Perth CBD ALONE let alone those in shopping centres..

Some newsagents really pull the channel down sometimes.

The newsagent pictured wouldn’t see or be aware of this website, & probably drives at 10 km/h down the centre of the streets, delivering papers.
He would also be consistently late & inaccurate with his deliveries, and rude to customers who miss out on their papers.
I blame the publishers for handing out, willy nilly, agreements to people who should plainly not be newsagents.
    Vetting should be more rigorous.
