Promoting the OzLotto $40 million jackpot

tatts_mags.JPGWe are actively promoting the $40 million OzLotto jackpot deep into our newsagency, considerably beyond the lottery counter. At the main newspaper stand and atop the headers in our busiest magazine aisle we are ensuring our customers are aware of this jackpot opportunity.  OzLotto jackpots are good to promote because of the likelihood of one winner winning the first division prize – this rarely happens with the Saturday game.  The size of the prize to a single winner is important given the marketing around dreams.

Not sure where to comment on this so here is as good as any. There has been no plane in to deliver my Oz promotion material however I have done my best to promote with what I have available. I am north of Cairns. All newsagents must be really feeling the effects of having no stock supply due to to flooded roads. No magazines, no papers, no stationary. Major centres such as Cairns are getting southern papers flown in but those of us a little further flung are getting no supply or the odd late delivery (several days late). Goodness knows when magazines will arrive. When they do we will have to imeadiately do returns on these with the expense of wages to do this. How do other handle this. How are others coping. Financially its worse than we have had for a while even though we do expect disruptions each wet season. It would be nice to see Mr Rudd look after all the small businesses who will be devastated by these floods and many will not survive.

Carol i am in Ingham were it is now a sea of water there oare 3 shops trading wollies myself and another newsagent it is a disaster each day we have to make the trip to the aitport either by boat or helicopter to go and get the papers all the papers are mixed up we dont have a clue whos are whos .If one more person complains about not having newspapers or magazines i am sure that they are going to get a drop kick out of the shop (maybe not but that what you feel like doing )

I would like to give a big thanks to the QNF for giving me a call and asking if all is ok and if we need a hand with anything ,it was a call i was not expecting and it was very helpfull ,they spoke to the distributors for us and arranged for golden casket not to take our money this week as no one has banked since last friday .

I.m in Cooktown Shaun. The road is also cut between here and Cairns. We will not have papers all weekend so on the positive side we are closing Sunday for a glorious day off. We love living in the north and have experienced this for years. We had water flowing through our shop for 10 weeks after cyclone Larry but no one seemed to know it had rained here! Any way good luck . Carol

Flooding is too far out to get photos ie half way to Cairns. Although the shop is starting to look a bit empty. After we do this weeks returns it will look pretty sad. Just heard the river is down between here and Cairns but the Courier bringing the Cairns Post and the mail rolled over about an hour out of town… Geuss we just weren’t meant to get papers yet. I’m not worrying anymore at least we still have a business and our lives – just look at the poor buggers in the bush fires in Victoria. Na we’ll be OK. Carol
