I have been told that 2009 will not be as big a year for partwork launches as 2008. I am disappointed if this turns out to be true. as partworks are efficient for newsagents: Partwork customers are more committed to a specific newsagency and they are more likely to spend more.
While the partwork distribution process has some challenges, once you have proven your interest is is easy to ensure eyou have the supply you need for your customers.
Yes they are good for sales but every partwork i have from network is nothing but a drama i am continually having to place back orders and this upsets the customer .I was recently told by network that if i want 3 of classic british drama i have to have a permanant order of 4 or i will continue to only receieve 2 when they can clearly see that i have a constant sales of 3 for the past 12 months. With G&G partwroks every thing runs pretty smooth

we decided 12 months ago, due to ongoing problems with back orders and set orders to take a different route for part series. we no longer keep orders for customers, first in best dressed basis now, any part series numbers that a customer misses we charge in advance for so we are never out of pocket. We rejigged the whole part series magazine area, in fact nearly doubled the size of it to fit everything in and it has worked extremely well for us. We havent received any back lash from the customer because the onus is now on them to pop in on time to pick up the magazine before it sells out.

Hi Mark
Yes, 2009 will not be a good year for partwork launches. The UK has only seen 6 this January and none of them have shown any signs of being great sale successes.
Our economic down turn, credit crisis (mustn’t use the R word yet) is the driving force for this reduced activity.
We have not seen any of the new publications, but then again no customers have asked us for any of them. With Combat Tanks and Farm Tractors both including models I am not surprised.

Steve,
We have looked at the possibility of creating a series of our own. Capital intensive but exciting if the pitch is right.
