We sold out of the Australian Financial Review bumper edition yesterday. Frustrating. That they have only one issue to cover a week is also frustration – I say that as a Fin reader.
Michael I’d gladly take more Fins. Given that the paper has shutdown for a week getting them is a challenge.
We have software which can alert a publisher when a newsagent has or even will sell out. This can make the process easier. However, publishers prefer manual systems.

By fairfax shutting down publications of the fin review down for a week and the SMH over the xmas weekends, just shows the disrespect they have for the medium. When we told customers that this would be the same paper for the next week they have told us they will get their info online in future instead of paying $3 for old news. The amount of angry SMH customers we have had so far today that have to pay $2.30 to read a “thin” paper is a joke. Why can the other publishers print fresh papers but not fairfax?
When they want to push subscriptions or freebies they come to newsagents and demand extra space but when it suits them they all but shut us down.
Merry Christmas to all the hard workers out there but bah Humbug to Fairfax.

I will sell 0ut of this years bumper fin review out of the 65 I requested we only received 20 (we received the key parcel but not the bulk) have contacted Fairfax to get replacements but no holding my breath. I know this is a stupid question but why does stuff like this happen now?

As an editor, I hate to hear that newspapers sell out. You should have been supplied with more.
I know newsagents though, who when we have suggested taking extra papers, they have refused them.
