Below is the poster artwork I have had created for newsagents to use to promote magazines as a Christmas gift. You can download the artwork – A4 or A3 size – from the front page of Tower website. I have kept away from all newsagency branding – so that any newsagent could use the poster.
I selected the titles to represent range and typical gift giving opportunities. The challenge is space since it was important to represent enough of the cover. Newsagents are welcome share this with colleagues if they feel it would be useful in driving magazine sales as Christmas gifts.
Great idea Mark!

Very well done. That’s going in the newsletter. Ta.
I always get lots of questions about gift subscriptions around christmas. I want to be able to sell magazine subscriptions for customers to pick up their title each month from my shop.
As an industry, we haemorrhage mag sales to sweet subscription offers that we cannot hope to match.
I want customers to be able to buy a plastic card that has the title and months of the year listed on the front, and my newsagency details stuck on the back. I would clip this card each month when they come in to pick up their title.
I want to be able to match the subscription deal listed inside the magazine. I’d happily earn my 25% based on the subscription price rather than the normal selling price.
I could have the customers fill in their details for the subscription. I could post these to the publisher. The publisher could send me a cheque to compensate for the discount (i’m still buying the mags at 75%), and they could send the subscriber the free bbq tongs or whatever they’re offering.
The advantages to all sides are obvious. Customers can get their mags on time with gifts attached. The publishers have newsagency staff acting as active salespeople for their title and save on postage. The newsagency gets back some of the business it’s been losing, and gets increased foot traffic through the door.
