Are we allowed an opinion?

I am regularly contacted by suppliers about what I write (and have written in the past) here – usually because of a negative comment.  Some of this contact results in good dialogue and even sees issues resolved while other contact is a complaint that I dare to complain publicly. Other contact is to suggest that I not complain about them publicly.

Suppliers who care about the channel would focus on the complaint rather than that it is public.  They would look at newsagent data and engage resolving the problems shown in the data.

If no one comments, then everything must be running fine. It is good that these suppliers look at your site. Constructive criticism should not be looked at as a complaint, it should be looked at as a way to improve ones business. It would be naive to think there is never room for improvement regardless of the size of the company. Everyone happy may never be acheived, but most people happy would be an acheivment. All suppliers should look at this site to get an insite on how to improve there business.

It would be great if suppliers could post comments at times, i am sure it would be hard at times to comment at times also, I notice Lovatts have commented from time to time, in that example things happened and a good relationship was formed I believe.

The owner of this blog also leaves himself wide open from alienation to vindictiveness for the benefit of the Newsagent Channel. People must understand he SAYS WHAT I AM THINKING on most issues.

Some PEOPLE and COMPANIES DONT GET IT, the owner of this blog is making representations and making a noise on behalf of all the Newsagent Channel.

Information sharing on all sorts of areas from this open and transparent blog has been valuable for my business

Closed member only sites and clandestine sites do nothing for the Newsagent Channel.

Thanks for the comment Derek. Suppliers are most welcome to comment. Comments are not moderated except for two occasions this year for legal reasons.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this is a public forum, I’d love suppliers set the record straight in a number of issues, it’s only going to help them in the long run.

It would be great to have for instance a nominated person from each of the magazine distributers to answer the questions we all ask. This would improve both the distributers profits and our profits, causing a less stress situation on both sides.

Michael, you’re an active little puppy on this blog why don’t you lead by example and set up your own blog site that allows interaction with the suppliers.
I doubt their opinion of the author of this site would encourage a cross flow of information – besides, Mark can then compliment you on your very own you beaut site. Everyone’s a winner!

anon/Bazza (one in the same), a considerable amount of supplier contact is positive – suppliers being critical of themselves and of others. This blog, in most cases, opens conversations which otherwise would not be had.

    Thanks for reading.

anon, why start a site when they can converse here? Suppliers ARE allowed to interact here.

If you read carefully you’ll see that Mark is more of a journalist for the industry with different issues that affect the majority of us.

There’s nothing wrong with Mark calling a spade a spade when the majority of newsagents agree with his opinion. If suppliers don’t like it, they can address the issue.

how do you know that the majority of newsagents agree with his opinion when there is only the same five or six participants blogging on; so wouldn’t it be just great to have another blog site where distributors and suppliers can interact without fear or favour, affection or ill will?
    You’re just the man Michael

Just as I knew you were Bazza! I know because it takes a person with commensense to run a newsagency, Mark’s opinion more often that not sides with commonsense, hence if people disagree they respond to him negatively- which is rare.

I’m not the man. A valid idea though. Maybe leave it up to the distributers and suppliers for that one.

Considering what a high opinion you have of your own wit and literacy anon why don’t you start this new magical blog?

Mark this is your site, cant you just block anon. He never contributes anything to this site. It fails me to think his life is so incomplete. Maybe he is a lost sole, looking for help, who cares. I credit you in taking what you give and printing it but Anon keeps loosing site of the original topic ( lookat me, look at me attitude ) he is getting annoying>
