NAB lets a newsagent down

The National Australia Bank refused to cancel the direct debit for the now useless Bill Express equipment at newsXpress Parkmore in Victoria.  I was talking with Phillip Johnson this morning at the GNS Market Fair and he explained that he faxed the cancellation through to NAB and when he found money had been taken from the account he confronted them.  They have point blank refused to act on his request.  Phillip drew their attention to the Banking Code of Conduct and they still refuse to follow his instructions in relation to his account.

I would be interested to hear from any other newsagents experiencing difficulty with the National Australia Bank.

My Bank the CBA tried the same. I asked them for a stoped payment form, signed it and also asked for three months back payments that were drawn against my account without authority as I have no agreement with Mobius Pty Ltd. I took a copy of the signed request just in case they said NO. To my surprise I received all I asked for seven days later.

My suggestion is to gain a copy of your submitted request duly signed and send it to the Banking Ombudsman with covering letter marking it urgent OR close that account at your Bank, open another one at your Bank and enter only the PDA’s / PDC,s you wish to have them draw from your account.

    Best of luck.

Can David or anyone out there please tell me how should I phrase my letter to request for refunds as officer at Westpac vehemently refused to do so?

read Mark Fletcher’s blog of August 10th re Banks declining to stop payments.
Also ask yourself and the Bank what right they have to take payments from your account when your authority is/was with TBI and not Mobius Finance Pty Ltd

Claire —- I also bank with Westpac and all it took was a phone call to my business centre (Orange NSW) to get a refund for April, May and June payments to Mobius. I told them I want the refunds as they had no written and signed authority from me for this company to take funds from my account. They put a claim through on their end and I received the refund two weeks later. I think it really shows that the outcome depends on who you speak too.

    Mark,
My NAB manager cancelled both of mine, two shops, at my verbal request. Which I then followed up in writing.
