We are promoting The Classic Australian Movie Collection partwork at the counter position usually reserved for magazines with a free gift. With this new partwork in its second on-sale week we wanted to attract as much interest into the weekend as possible. Also, we currently have no other title in-store with a giveaway which is appropriate to this premium space.
Sales for the movie collection have been good, it’s one of the best partworks going around at the moment – hence our decision to push part 1 ahead of the release of part 2.
we want to give the best service to customers that ‘s for sure, but i would rather not to sell part works at all. i have lost many loyal customers after so many partworks. i can survive and make good money without partworks at all. i don’t have to face angry customers anymore now for not be able to complete their partworks.

I’m in the same boat as you Eric. Weighing it all up it is not worth the hassle.
They always end you say 10 to start with, then 9, 8, 7, etc in the weeks after that, so the ten people who start it are never guarenteed to finish it.
If they could supply the demand I’d be happy to push them but they don’t so we just put them out the back as soon as we get them. It’s a “too hard basket” item.

I’d rather have happy customers and build good relationships with them, than make a quick buck one week then the next week dissapoint them.

do you know why they do that ? obviously if you sell 20 for the first issue you could say that you would at least sell 15 – 18 of the next issue i know that eventually the sales will drop off but not in the fisrt lot of issues . i have a feeling the whole series is going to be very popular . i did ring G&G about the stock but because i am only getting 5 i have to place my back order on wednesday after i recieve the stock .
thanks

Shaun, They set the allocation based on rials in SA and WA. There are ways to bypass it for newsagents really wanting to push partworks. mark

Does anyone know whether the DVDs can be viewed in other countries?
Some customers want to buy them as gifts for their relatives in other countries, while they understand that DVD machines in different regions has different formats, so the Classic Australian Movie Collection DVDs may or may not be viewable in US or UK.
Cheers,
Sunny
