Promoting $50 million OzLotto jackpot

We are promoting the OzLotto jackpot above our main magazine aisle again this week. not that Tattersalls would care. They only care about how we promote in their space. Smart retail is about leveraging traffic from one department to purchase from another.

If only they treated us as business people and recognised this type of additional effort. Newsagents across Victoria are going all out this week yet Tattersalls is only interested in what we do in their area and to their specific standards.

Retail is about creating theatre and good theatre is about the unexpected. Customers become store blind with the same old same old in the Tattersalls area. hence our efforts deep in the store and elsewhere around the $50 million opportunity.

Thanks Mark for the pic and idea. Balloons look great. I copied that.

We sold our big syndicate 200xSystem 10. Tempting to open another one!

I’ve found that sales were down for last weeks 40M compared to I think April when we hit 40M then.

    Has anyone else noticed that?

Mark, Great display! It is hard to tell what the A4 posters are attached to. Are they on some form of rack?

    Michael,
I agree – we went down 35% on Oz Lotto $40M last week as to April’s $40M, you are not alone Michael, but this week we are 40% up on last week so far.We are aiming for a 30% increase on April’s $40M.

    Rowan,

The A4 posters are stapled to a long plastic straw. They are usually for balloons.

    I’m tipping it won’t go off and we’ll have a $60M Jackpot.

After the Powerball $50M, people just haven’t had the interest or enthusiasm. Purse strings are tight at the moment.

very true! how times have changed when $8M,$10M Jackpots no longer create any interest. Let’s all hope it Jackpots to $60M – its all good for business, getting them into the store and upselling on other higher margin goods

Heard through the grapevine if it doesn’t go of it might go to 75M!!!

This is only hear say though.

We just don’t have the interest today as we had with the 50M Powerball.
