The value of a lottery jackpot

oz_jack.JPGThe graph to the left shows our OzLotto sales week by week from when the jackpot which went off earlier this week commenced up to the latest week(at the top).  It is fascinating to see the growth over the ten weeks.  $20 million is the sweet spot.  I suspect had the prize not gone off this week and the first division reached around $60 million we would have seen another extraordinary sales jump.

Outside of the results shown on the graph is the flow-on benefit elsewhere in the newsagency.  Some department fare better than others – it comes down to what we make of the opportunity.

It will be intersting to see how that graph is effected in 8 weeks time, if the article in yesterdays age querying whether intralot will be able to hit their release date on time.Mark as a provider of technology products to retailers you may know,is it realistic to expect they can roll out software hardware training etc etc to over 700 outlets in under 8 weeks, should we be concerned about another revenue stream of our businesses being effected, why all the secrecy regarding their rollout?

    Helen,

My understanding is that they need to have one location live in eight weeks.

On their overall project, I don;t know much about the technology being used and so cannot comment if eight weeks is realistic.
