Risk to instant lottery sales

I spent a couple of hours behind the counter today to help with superdraw sales.  I struck me how significantly the arrival of Intralot will impact my lottery business and, I am sure, most others if the introduction does not go smoothly.  Scratch tickets are a perfect up-sell, customers love the convenience of putting icing on their gambling purchase.  Muck that up in any way and sales will be affected.

Between 13% and 19% of lottery sales include scratch ticket sales.

While briefings have started, there is not enough clarity on how Tattersalls and Intralot will work in with each other here in Victoria.

Hey. I’m a german student of science journalism, currently researching on the Australian media system. I stumbled over your blog searching for the main Australian news agencies. Would be great if you could give me some advice where to look…
    Thanks

Nora, If you are looking for retail newsagencies check our Google for newsagency. You could also go to http://www.anf.net.au for a more complete list. Mark

I think she means places like http://www.fairfax.com.au
    http://www.newsltd.com.au

These are the paper publishers Nora. They have publications in every state. Maybe start there

Daniel is right, but I was rather looking for an equivalent to the AAP – can’t believe simply everything is owned by Murdoch (or Fairfax). Thought there must be something else than AAP?

    Thanks anyways

    Nora,

Depends on what you are looking for. If your looking at “news agencies” (remember this can encompas a variety of organisations and is not to be confused with “newsagencies” which this blog is about) then there are others besides Fairfax and News Ltd.

Another (not sue if you would call it main) is Western Australian Newspapers (WAN) and then there is the government funded Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and maybe Ten Network Holdings Ltd.

But the bulk of media is reasonably concentrated in its ownership is Australia.

The ones I mean are central organizations spreading news over the main servers of newspapers (via abonnement), so editors can work with it as a source of basic information.
