Newsagents may want to check how many copied of Fisherman & Boatowner they received last week. We usually receive three copies. This month they sent six. On inquiry I was told it was a re-launch. Okay, that’s fine. Don’t use my cash to support the publisher’s efforts – not when we sell, on average, two copies of each issue.
Once in two years we have sold three copies – no justificati0on for a 100% increase in supply.
Mark;
This is the same publication that upset newsagents in July 2007, I discontinued my supply of Fisherman & Boatowner back then as a result of the article written by Peter Webster, Editor, Fisherman & Boatowner, as i am sure many newsagents did.
In that article, he called on all readers to subscribe to his publication and bypass all retail sales within newsagents. He also took a swipe at newsagents as a result of poor scale out; knowing full well newsagents have little control of the supply they receive from NDD.
So it now seems that we have become the dumping ground for this publishing house because of his original stupidity.
As he so clearly stated in his article in July, he wants customers to subscribe to his publications. Newsagents would do well to remember those comments when all their old stock starts turning up on newsagents doorsteps!
It suprises me that the title still lives in newsagents.
God help them if any turn up in my shop!
