The trial of selling Tattersalls lottery tickets through the Bill Express bill payment terminals is set to start in in Victoria in less than a week. Many will have forgotten about this trial which was announced by Bill Express and Tattersalls two years ago. Why we need to sell lottery tickets from an already busy and very slow Bill Express terminal is beyond me. Questions about commissions, who else will sell these tickets and the impact on overnight settlement are yet to be answered. Newsagents ought to be wary of this trial
YES, I PERSONALLY AGREE THAT BILL EXPRESS AND TATTERSALLS WILL USE NEWSAGENCIES TO EXPAND THEIR LOTTERY TICKETS INTO OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS. AFTER ALL WHY WOULD ALREADY ACCREDITED TATTERSALLS SITES USE BILL EXPRESS TERMINALS?
NEWSAGENCIES TOGETHER MUST MAKE A STAND, AND SAY NO TO THIS DEVELOPMENT. THIS IS JUST THE START OF THEIR EXPANSION WHICH WILL HAVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF IMPACT ON OUR TATTS BUSINESSES THAT WE HAVE PAID FOR.
I SPOKE TO PETER COWLEY (VANA) THIS MORNING WHO CLAIMED HE “KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT”. IS THIS GOING TO BE ANOTHER LOSS WHERE NEWSAGENCIES ARE THE LAST TO KNOW. IT’S NOW TO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT AS WE ARE DUE TO SELL LIVE TICKETS ON MONDAY – HAD NO CORRESPONDENCE FROM TATTS REGARDING THE ISSUE.
I HAD THOUGHT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP. ALTHOUGH HAVENT SEEN MY TATTS REP IN OUR AREA FOR 8 MONTHS +
GREAT COMMUNICATION LEVELS FROM A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY.

I won’t be participating in this particular ‘initiative’. Why would i confuse my customers when i already have them trained how to purchase Tatts products in my business?
In regards to not seeing any reps stated by Adam; Bill Express pulled all support staff associated with Newsagents (Sales Reps) and redirected their attention to corporate avenues. If a newsagent has a query, they have to ring customer support; absolutley appalling treatment by Bill Express again.
In regards to ‘a business partnership’…………you are kidding?
