At the ANF-Q Awards announced in Bridsbane Saturday, newsXpress members did very well:
Retail Newsagent of the Year: Warrick & Jo – newsXpress Gympie
Runner Up: Mark & Shelley – newsXpress Sarina
Employee of the Year: – Bec – newsXpress Sarina
Runner Up: Andrew Sutton – newsXpress Harbourtown
Distribution Newsagent of the Year: Monterey Keys News – Gold Coast.
As a Director of newsXpress of course I am thrilled for the success of members, employees and the group as a whole. More broadly, newsagents taking time out to recognise the best operators is good for the industry.
The obvious question is how does the voting work. If you contacted all the newsxpress agents with the mantra ‘vote early and vote often’ it is easy to see how they could pick up many of the prizes. If the voting was done by an independent study across all newsagents in Qld then I would be impressed. I assume all newsagents in Qld were entered (not had the opportunity to enter, but actually entered), and all newsagents were asked to vote for their best employee and explain why. I don’t want to seem to skeptical, but lets be honest, competitions like these are just won by the people who can be bothered entering.

Jim, newsagents don’t vote. The association manages the voting and usually brings in people with solid industry experience. My understanding is that suppliers nominate newsagents. mark

Congratulations to Warwick & Jo. Having known Warwick & Jo for a few years, they are worthy winners. Speaking with Warwick, you will get an immediate understanding of his passion for his business. It is great to see.
Can’t wait to catch up with them both in October for a few frothies!
Well done guys!
