Pregnancy and Baby is an Australian magazine which we get through Network. Pregnancy and Baby is a UK magazine which we get through NDD. Twins! Identical twins!
This is another example of magazine distributors not respecting newsagents. With almost identical content my customers will be confused by the offering – especially this month with the UK product plastic bagged and with a free book and costing less.
If newsagents controlled, centrally, what titles got access to their network this situation would not happen.
Mag companies have no respect for the people who actually sell the mags because we are dealing with distributors not the people who make the mags, network, gotch and NDD are the middle men so they don’t care. A prime example of this is the 20 day trading terms. But newsagents are expected to sit on stock for up to 6 months. Clean the middlemen out and start dealing with the publishers direct, just like isubscribe. Ever wonder how they can mail out the mags for a cheaper price then newsagents can sell them for.

I really do not understand how the distributors have managed this scam, a typical example is March’s return form Cheap eats, 13 issues sent last year, 13 issues returned this March, $130.00 sitting outside my control for a few months, in a few months I expect to receive the next issue of cheap eats, the irony in this story is I canceled Cheap eats 2 issues ago because it does not sell in my Bookstall and voile it returns and when I saw them I shook my head many times..its a scam!

Luke,
Perhaps the consumers could just cut you out as well and go to the publisher, saving delaing with whining newsagents like you. You are in Lismore aren’t you?
