The government cannot have it both ways. On the one hand they say they have to compete and have presided over their Government owned Post Offices moving into many lines sold by others including newsagencies. Then, on a day like today, they operate like a public service business and close. This behaviour demonstrates abuse by Australia Post of their Government ownership and benefits available to them which are unavailable to businesses like mine.
That’s a very interesting point actually and I think it also extends itself to a customer service point of view also.
We have had some extraordinarily bad customer service from the government owned post office with large packages sitting out the back for almost a month simply because the staff don’t bother looking if you have multiple parcels. then when it’s addressed with them the attitude is it our fault and really there’s no need for us to make you as a consumer happy.
You want to act like a retail shop – then you must ACT like a retail shop which as you say means opening on like a real business.
Of course I’d be happier if instead of trying to sell me printers and mobile phones I could get a shorter line and my mail quicker.
