I’m confused. First there was True Local in the US/Canada and now we have True Local here in Australia. The latter started a week ago and is run by News Limited. Based on the US true local website it seems they were planning to launch in Australia. It will be interesting to see this play out since the US operation came first.
True Local (both the original US version, and Rupert Murdoch’s Australian version) are both rather basic directories the same as Yellow Pages online.
Anyone looking for a genuinely revolutionary Australian-made service should check out Service Central.
Service Central’s unique system arranges for interested tradespeople & service providers to contact you. No longer do you have to spend half of your day calling around finding someone that’s available, interested, and good. Service Central’s free system does that for you.
Do you end up paying more? No, actually it comes in cheaper as the businesses don’t have the huge overhead of advertising costs (Yellow Pages, etc), plus they know that they’re in a competive environment when you ask for 2-4 quotes.
