Thankfully, we have reached the last week of what has been a painfully long election campaign here in Australia. I say painfully because most small business retailers see sales through the till slow in an election campaign for no other reason than people being uncertain and when they are uncertain they spend less. While is may have suited the Prime Minister to have a long campaign I am sure there are plenty of small business retailers who would have preferred the shorter possible campaign.
I am looking forward to a hung parliament.
Getting sick of the world is ending scenarios. I get that if you are a lobby group, then now is the time to try and get what you can, but all the fear mongering is driving me nuts.
Can anyone please come up with a positive plan forward. Please?
Dean most of the politicians don’t understand the role of leadership, sadly.
We have just received a parcel from Alliance of Australian Retailers with a letter accompanying signed by a Chiang Lim General Manager. The parcel has flyers and posters promoting Senator David Leyonhjelm and his stance on Tobacco products.
I have just rewrapped and sent it back as a RTS. But who are Alliance of Australian Retailers and who is Chiang Lim?
Gregg, it is a front set up by the tobacco companies.

Chiang is, in my opinion, the failed NANA CEO. He left quickly a while back. Gregg I like your approach to this. David thank you for exposing this for what it is. The Wikipedia page has more on the group: http://tobaccotactics.org/index.php/Alliance_of_Australian_Retailers Also the association website lists the ANF as being involved.
Thanks Mark,
It appears the ANF is a member of Alliance of Australian Retailers. The letter is Authorised and printed by C Lim, 56 Delhi Rd, North Ryde. NSW 2113. The same address as the ANF?
I would urge anyone receiving this pack to return it as a RTS. We do not need the AAR or the ANF to tell us, or promote who to vote for or promote to our customers.
I wonder how ANF members feel about their association spending money on producing and posting this material to newsagents.
Hello everyone I am curious to know if you will you be voting for the same political party that you voted for at the last federal election?
I don’t want to know who your voting for, only if you will be voting the same way.
Anyone?
Unless there is a momentous change, then yes, I will be voting the same as last election on 1st preference. I believe that some of my preferences have shifted, especially with the Senate.
So, the fabulous Glenn D, care to answer your own question?
I will be voting the same way as last Federal Election. I live in a marginal Labor held electorate.
